large music begins another chapter in it s celebrated history with the flagship release of a new vinyl series entitled wax weapons. we have seen many re-issues of classic releases over the last 12 months from the large camp–but this time owner and founder jeff craven focuses on the new artists and fresh sounds that continue to elevate the labels stellar reputation. four tracks to choose from here that all possess a unique chicago flavor and are aimed squarely at the dance floor.

after two eps on l.i.e.s. voiski heads east making his debut on the cccp sub-label. we are treated to classic voiski material here- all the elements he excelled at on his previous efforts all present-massive drum programming, huge basslines and epic builds carry the songs along. 100 percent guaranteed club approved and essential for any voiski fan.

after the debut release on do not sleep become a sure fire club hit, the ibiza party turned much loved house and tech label now has another weapon up its sleeve. the next release is from perel, is titled charles manson and features another standout remix from resident darius syrossian. perel is a berlin based dj, producer and vocalist who is quickly rising through the ranks. she has released both originals and remixes on o*rs before now, and has a robust house and techno infused sound that simply makes you want to dance. as a dj she is a regular at cool spots like farbfernseher and impresses here with what she serves up for do not sleep. the original is a chunky, no-nonsense house track with bouncy bass, subtle vocals and the sort of futuristic and soulful pads that help make it really stand out. it s a slick, well produced sound that is sure to make it into many top record bags in the coming weeks and months. the remix from darius is a subtle one that layers in some trance inducing vocals and extra breakdowns so as to really highlight the powerful effect of the drums each and every time they drop.

goldffinch return for their second ep for valence bringing four tracks imbued with the kinetic energy, insistent rhythms and subtle melodics that followers of the duo have come to expect from their output: expertly produced with warmth, edge and individuality.

in 1972 francois de roubaix and bernard maitre composed together the music of a tv series for children presented by puppets, called the onix. the musical oddity here released by weme records is a part of this ost. this piece of music demonstrates once again that francois de roubaix was in touch with all kinds of music of his time, including contemporary music. in this experimental track we can feel the influences of the composer pierre henry, an other explorer of unknown sounds. on the b side jodey kendrick makes his own interpretation of this music with current tech and sounds while keeping the atmosphere and fantasy of the original sound. attention non music !

needing very little introduction here is soulful scotsman al kent, who delivers the dirty goods for his first outing on rnt. good inside and 4006 are a pair of dusty reworks, as gritty and groovy as you like. but the prize of this ep might just be come back home, the crown jewel of his decade-earlier secret sounds collection, finally getting a proper vinyl for the first time ever!

embracing disco, techno and house music in all its declinations, what ever not introduces now british artist reformed society, project started by house producer harsh puri as a consequence of djing and collecting records since 1998, debuting with a four track old school house ep, optimistic chaos coherently fitting with the italian imprint philosophy. ‘hope’ has that solar, yet dusty groove folding distorted rhythmics and joyful pads around an insistent lead dubby pattern and shimmering synths. ‘optimistic chaos’ is again smooth but lightly gloomy, until a pause intoxicates one’s body and mind filling them with inebriating ambients. ‘incognito’ delivers a deep driving atmosphere here, featuring dogged, crisp drums together with minimalist, yet momentary cosmic motives. for the closing cut ‘detracid’, the artist cooks up a brew of acid lines with the usual charming synths and vivid hats, building a light sense of tension fired up by the warm, heady sound scapes. each track is similar to the last, stiffening the musical timbre of the label, confirming the producer’s strong artistic identity as a consequence.

with a passion for disco, italo, chicago house and detroit techno patrizio cavaliere aka rocco universal has been collecting music for the last two decades and it’s these musical influences that have shaped his raw, tripped out disco/house production sound. ‘tiny islands’, his debut release for leng, is a real melting pot of rich melodies over a thick baseline and is a clear example of rocco’s passion for the dancefloor. with something as multi layered and deep as the original track it needed ray mang to add his trademark sound to the remix. here he goes straight for the jugular drawing out some of the loops and percussion leaving no mistake as to when this should be dropped on the dancefloor.

the second offering from no more to roam, comes from one half of 2deepsoul, rai scott. a 3 track ep of low slung, sultry beats. clarinet moods, the eps namesake, comes in two different cuts both with the clarinet skills of rai herself, the melody mix is real nod to the afterhours, subtle drums & a haunting clarinet lick, while the lazy dub a little more upbeat, still has that afterhours vibe, carried with the clarinet & simple percussions, closing things up here is move to the front built for the dancefloor, a rolling bassline & synth, layered over a rolling percussion makes up the final cut.

san proper gushing on dg..small initial pressing on this one... be quick... tip! san: “lovers, friends, fam. and fans – love is in the air, get ready.” finally, the craze you’ve all been waiting for. this ep listens like one of dr. proper’s infamous radio show or deejay set. impossible to categorize, dropping house, electro, funk, and paying homage to disco. l.o.v.e. is a collaboration with ms. hollywood. an alliance that results in the whole breathing sexy and deep. whereas san proper stays in character for the rest of the ep. his use of the reverb adds shine and glory, and the drums are hit hard. in other words, music with an unprecedented character–just the way we like it.

ian blevins is the keeper of the jewel in the crown. this is his second offering for the esp institute. picking up right where we left off, side a unleashes another explosive big room belter with resume a driving rhythmic monster that takes advantage of the whips and cracks in ian’s drum machine arsenal, while warm chords lay a foundation for a quirky lead melody and rubbery pulse to dance upon. akin to hannibal, blevins esp institute debut in 2015, the arrangement here toys with us before revealing the true guts of the track—this time characterized halfway through by a punctuating gangster piano hook. on side b, poor old head utilizes ian’s signature drum styling we’ve come to adore, but here he establishes swells of melancholy via bending notes that meow and purr, beautifully ebbing and flowing though an array of incongruous dial tones and bells—shakey and barely out of sync, yet cradling a loosely drawn chord progression. these two songs will smack you up before they rub you down.

having previously used their dnuos ytivil offshoot to release material from their nearest and dearest (think batu, bruce, hodge and alex coulton), bristol’s livity sound crew turns to unknown french producer simo cell. the two tracks showcased here are a rather fine introduction to this newcomer, with opener “piste jaune” offering a clandestine blend of stuttering electro bass, discordant analogue percussion hits and spooky electronics. the mystery man goes for the jugular on “cellar door”, with pitched-down, bleep style melodies and liquid electronics riding an off-kilter, broken techno groove. another fine livity release.

the mysterious nurve follows up on his tectonic debut, originally released back in 2014, with 4 crunching darkside cuts, conjuring the spirits of ed rush & optical circa late 90s, to appear here in a techno form.

zackey force funk was born into this wild world in tucson, az in 1974. in and out of prison since the age of 17, zff began producing on pirated software his brother gave to him once he had given up a life of crime to focus on writing tunes and raising his family. first discovered by kutmah back in the golden era of myspace, zackey’s signature “force funk sound” swiftly grabbed the attention of a number of formidable producers. as these tunes were scattered across various labels, finding their homes on their respective collaborator’s projects, zff continued to hone his style, delving deeper into the psychedelic future funk realm of which he has created for himself. the fruits of his discipline all add up to “electron don” hnr52 a 15-track collection of early productions that serves as the initial transmission of a fantastical mind that has many more stories to tell. “electron don” gathers together various unreleased and classic tracks recorded by zackey force funk circa 2009-2011 in tucson, az. included here are a treasure-trove of classic productions by the electron don himself, as well as tracks by luminaries salva, mike gao, lorn, jellphonic, cupp cave, crimekillz, mark lowe and paolo xz.

who is the mysterious ketsueki sakuru? a lone warrior from the far east or an already established artist working under another name? we here at giallo disco cannot be sure, but are confident in their ability to detonate dancefloors and provide the correct ambience for walkman-missions everywhere. sounding as if muslimgauze was a confirmed new-beat devotee or if unit black flight was from dubai by way of tokyo and specialized in videogame soundtracks. the blood meridian ep is music for desert wastelands and murderjunkies.

fusing forces from norway and ghana for crosstown rebels is djuma soundsystem & yann coppier feat. king ayisoba, with the expertly crafted anyimo a african infused techno beast of a track, featuring remixes from dj and producer ibadan kingpin jerome sydenham and the illusive johnny aux who brings his signature acid house sound. king ayisoba originates from ghana and has been sharing his modern day twist on kologo music all over the world. norwegian in origin, djuma soundsystem has been creating music and touring the world for over a decade on labels such as rebirth, eskimo and noir. the two creative forces have combined here to create a truly unique afro-infused head turner of track with king ayisoba superb ghanaian vocals. the legendary jerome sydenham delivers two floor-filling interpretation of the original, both vocal an ibadan dub, hike the tempo and hit the floor running. also, johnny aux delivers a rib rattling techno take on the original with devastating effect

willie burns (the trilogy tapes/wt records/ l.i.e.s. records) complements this unusual walk in the woods by absorbing it into his warehouse banger signature. burns rework focuses on micro events of the original to create a sort of granular house version out of them. the adventure continues on a somewhat melancholic turn with we have been here before and sometimes as the b side. while we have been before is a more dancefloor-oriented take to krautrocks signature synthline layering, sometimes is norwells venture into a more techno universe than he’s mostly associated with to come out with a soothing, yet banging work. as digital bonuses, norwell offers glimpse a short but catchy synth jam riddled with different layers of complexity. this piece is then taken into obscurity by farbwechsel records boss s olbricht for a ride into a 80s-cyberpunk club where people are trying to dance their problems away in a dystopian world.

a year after his last outing on the label, gunnar haslam is back on delsin with four more tracks of idiosyncratic techno. opening up this ep with the title track, haslam cooks up a spangled brew of erratic synths and spinning hi hats and ties them together with a heavy rubber kick drum. followed by sarsi which is then completely different, its a beatless and emotionally forlorn cut that still manages to take you somewhere special. deep dancefloor business taking over on the b-side. scurrying alien sounds closed by a frenzied techno trip. each track here is different from the last, and each track here is a refreshing proposition from one of the most interesting guys around.

‘prepare to commit the name najem sworb to memory’ commanded philip sherburne when he reviewed the strasbourgers previous record for resident advisor. it wasnt a hard ask, sworb makes some pretty incredible stuff. known by some for his fantastic release on the now defunct ai records and famous renow ep on clone basement series (was supported by josh wink, rod, cassy etc.), najem makes his debut here on technorama records! swaying to the uk sound, this ep clearly targets the dancefloor, delivering four genuine techno tracks structured with the trippy spacey savour that najem is known for. enjoy!

italys enrico sedda has been releasing material since 2011 both under his own name and as 000 via the likes of sleep is commercial and amam. here we see enrico return with his pure analogue sound under his own name, launching amams new vinyl offshoot imprint mama recordings, a new venture for the italian imprint but retaining the understated warmth and class of its parent label.

whilst its neighbour has always taken the plaudits on the party front the steely city of sheffield has its own house history, with much of it residing in the warm buzzing darkness of the studio. its here that we find our latest robsoul rookie. a fresh name for the label, but a producer who is far from new to the game. tommy vicari jnr’s first release was pressed to the black gold and released back in 2004. since then there have been sporadic outings, but the last two years have seen a reinvigorated tommy roll out over ten new releases and play a huge part in putting sheffield s house music firmly back on the map. threshold of eternity sees tommy drop the northern grit to replace it with shimmering warmth and sunshine vibes across all four tracks. fidgeting rhythms, chopped samples and groove-heavy beats and bass are spliced together to create an essential feel-good release.

hell yeah, this time in collaboration with dj ralf’s laterra recordings, is a label you can always rely on to come up with some interesting musical projects, and that is exactly the case here: the italian outlet’s next releases are two balearic tinged remixes of a popular italian chant, bella ciao, by brooklyn troupe underground system released on a 12&#8243,,, and a 10&#8243,,, vinyl, remixes come from leo mas & fabrice, and stunning artwork by andrea amducci inspired by guttuso’s funerale di togliatti.

based in tallinn, estonia, young up-and-comer andreas kask offers up the inaugural release on new london based imprint x-kalay. due 7th december 2015. hot on the heels of his emotive three tracker for amsterdam based imprint, legendary sound research, kask continues here in a similar vein. saturated in machine warmth, we are taken on an unerring journey through the analogue deep. soundscapes shot through with the warm emotion and raw melancholy hues of a new tallinn dawn.
